Sal gets the idea that Megan, the ghost girl he had encountered previously, could help Larry and together they go to Room 504’s bathroom. The teens return to the apartments, where Sal hopes to find more answers regarding the demon.

While searching in a chest full of items belonging to Larry’s dad, Sal comes across a metallic puzzle box. Sal tells Larry he has also seen the demon and agrees to help him break the curse. Larry confides in Sal, telling him about his father’s disappearance and his supposed curse that he believes was placed upon him by a shadowy demon with red eyes. When Sal tells Larry about his dream, Larry decides to show Sal his tree house. The disturbing sight is enough to jolt Sal awake. He reprimands Sal for touching his pony and his face unzips to reveal a skeleton with burning red eyes. After exiting the room, he walks down a long hallway leading to a black void where Charley is seated in his chair. He enters a door leading back to Sanderson's bathroom where he witnesses Charley murder her. When Sal restores the flow of water and returns, the pony is dead, but its bloated corpse serves as a makeshift bridge. After being devoured by the toilet and deposited into the sewers, Sal encounters a severely dehydrated pony, begging for water. Sanderson with her toilet in Larry’s place. After crawling into a bloody ambulance, the scene shifts again to a now teenage Sal helping Mrs. The dream suddenly takes a dark turn when the scene changes to reveal Sal with a bloody face surrounded by a crumbling city. Sal walks ahead toward the trees unaware of the dog-shaped silhouette stalking him nearby. Hearing a dog barking, he begs her to let him pet it and she eventually relents. In a dream, a young Sal Fisher is having a picnic with his mother.

We also learn that Sal is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial for murder. Sanderson.Back in the present we learn that Charley was eventually released with the police believing Sal had falsely accused him all those years ago. Before the police leave, Sal peeks into the coroner’s van and sees the mutilated corpse of the murder victim, Mrs. With Larry’s help, Sal was able to deliver evidence of Charley’s guilt. The police then arrest the tenet of room 204, Charley for the murder. Things in Sal’s world are dark, not just for him, but for seemingly everyone in the Addison Apartment building. Yeah, if you were still holding out hope for lighthearted humor, you can go ahead and squash that now. This includes telling the doctor about his dreams of waking up in the hospital and finding his mother’s dead body. This part of the story is book-ended by flashes to the present where Sal is discussing his troubled past with his therapist, Dr. Sally Face and his new friend Larry investigate a murder committed in apartment 403. Sal meets Lisa, the janitor, and becomes good friends with her son, Larry.
He and his father Henry move into a new apartment looking for a fresh start following the death of Sal’s mother. After an undisclosed traumatic incident Sal wears a slightly disturbing face prosthetic. Introducing our blue-haired pig-tailed protagonist, 15 year old Sal Fisher.
